Coming up later this month, the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, Sustainable Works, and the city will honor Santa Monica’s most environmentally responsible local businesses at the Sustainable Quality Awards. And Yallwest, a two-day festival celebrating young adult literature, is coming to Santa Monica High School.
Sustainable Quality Awards
Join the Chamber, Sustainable Works, and the city at Le Meridien Delfina Hotel in Santa Monica on April 21 to honor some of Santa Monica’s leading sustainable businesses.
This year’s grand prize winners are: Gwynne Pugh Urban Studio, Inc., Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, Natural Resources Defense Council, and UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica. In the category of “Excellence in Economic Development,” Arthur Murray Dance Center Santa Monica, Global Green, and haleARTS SPACE will be honored.
Taking home prizes in the category of “Excellence in Social Responsibility” are: Caffe Bellagio and Willow Spa. And, finally, in the category of Excellence in Stewardship of the Environment, Caffe Bellagio, Physical Therapyworks, Santa Monica College, and The Albright – SM Pier Seafood, are being honored.

Yallwest
Get ready for a two day celebration (April 30 and May 1) of the imaginative world of young adult literature. Yallwest is back and it will feature “over 113 authors including New York Times Bestsellers along with local and acclaimed young adult and middle grade writers, plus notable Hollywood directors and creators,” according to Yallwest’s website.
Yallwest features “2 days of panels, book signings, food trucks, bad jokes, rock ‘n’ roll, killer photo ops & general geeky debauchery,” according to the site.
