After a successful event in Santa Monica earlier this summer, AIDS Lifecycle is working with the City of Santa Monica to return to Parking Lot 4 South for their 2024 Finish Line Festival on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from approximately 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exact time at the finish depends on when the last cyclist completes the event.
AIDS Lifecycle is a seven day, 545 mile group bike ride from San Francisco to Santa Monica. Participants must raise a minimum of $3,500 to take part in the ride with proceeds benefiting the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. The Ride began in 1994 and was called the “California AIDS Ride.” In 2002, it was rebranded as AIDS/LifeCycle. Since 1994, participants have raised more than $300 million for the HIV and AIDS-related services of the Los Angeles LGBT Center and San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
The Finish Line Festival is open to the public and will have amenities for participants (such as bike storage and shipping, gear pickup) and events that are more outwardly focused such as a concert stage and health and fitness expo. The event is expected to bring roughly 6,000 people to Downtown Santa Monica and is one of the first events announced for the Month of Pride, 2024.
It’s never too early to sign-up as either a cyclist, support roadie or volunteer at the finish line.
The City Council will vote on whether or not to approve the contract with AIDS Lifecycle for the festival at tonight’s meeting. The item is 5-F on the agenda on the consent calendar.
