March 10 is Next OPA Monthly Meeting: Mark your calendars for dinner and socializing from 6:00 – 6:30pm and the meeting from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at the Main St. library. The agenda includes guest speakers new Council-Member Barry Snell, Santa Monica Public Library Updates, and Big Outdoor (the digital signs on Main St.).

SaMo Landlord to Pay $450,000 in Tenant Harassment Suits: The landlord and her son must pay a total of $450,000 to settle separate tenant harassment cases filed by the City and the defendants who lived in a rent-controlled apartment. In its lawsuit, the City alleged the Defendants “engaged in a campaign of harassment against a family of four with two young children, trying to drive them out of their long-term rent-controlled home.” More details here.

Planning Commission Fence Wall Hedge Hearing: This notice is for a March 5 hearing for Proposed Amendments to the Text of the Santa Monica Municipal Code to Increase the Maximum Allowed Height of Fences, Walls, and Hedges in the Front Setbacks of R2, R3, and R4 Zoning Districts and to Address the Rules for Measuring the Heights of Fences, Walls, and Hedges Located on Top of Retaining Walls.

Palisades High School could come to Downtown SaMo: The school “may temporarily relocate to the currently vacant Sears Building in Downtown Santa Monica while the school works to rebuild sections of its campus destroyed by the Palisades Fire.” More details here.
