TONIGHT’S OPA Monthly Meeting Returning to the Library! This month’s meeting will be at the 2601 Main St. Library  starting with food and mingling at 6:00pm. We will also be hybrid on Zoom. Here is the Zoom link to join the meeting starting at 6:30pm. Here’s the draft agenda and here’s schedule:

  • 6:00 – 6:30pm: Food, refreshments and mingling
  • 6:30 – 6:45pm: SMPD update 
  • 6:45 – 7:00pm: Matthew Wells, City of Santa Monica, Public Landscape Manager
  • 7:00 – 7:15pm: Alexander Hall, Waymo
  • 7:15 – 7:30pm: Megan Gamble, Hospitality Santa Monica, a CRA coalition
  • 7:30 – 8:20: Board business, including upcoming calendar of events (MAINopoly, Make Music Day, July 4 Parade, & more)

Apply for Santa Monica Climate Corps Program: Recruitment has begun for Santa Monica’s 2024 Climate Corps program! For over 8 years, the City has partnered with Climate Action Santa Monica to host the Climate Corps program which empowers cohorts of passionate youth eager to combat the climate crisis. Through immersive educational experiences in climate issues, engagement with local sustainability programs and initiatives, and training in effective community and civic engagement, the program fosters a community of future climate leaders. Climate Corps members will complete 40 hours of activities throughout the year with a high concentration of opportunities during the summer, and each member earns a $400 honorarium after successfully completing the program. Things To Do This Week: 

  • FREE Fitness Events Meets Plastic Elimination Efforts: Join eco-warrior Cleancult for their inaugural plastic intervention event focusing on eliminating plastics and holistic workouts. Tuesday May 14, 12:30pm & 6:30pm & Wednesday May 15, 9:30am www.jointhecleancult.com/ 
  • Housing Programs Office Hours at Virginia Avenue Park (Wednesday 4:30 – 7pm): Housing staff will be available for monthly “Office Hours” to assist applicants, in English and Spanish, with questions about the City’s Below Market Housing (BMH) and Preserving Our Diversity (POD) programs. The goal of this effort is to better support community members that wish to connect with staff in-person about these programs but are unable to make it to City Hall during normal business hours.
  • Pizzana Scopa Collab (Wednesday): For one night only, Scopa chef and Food Network star Antonia Lofaso is joining forces with Pizzana’s head chef and pizzaiolo, Daniele Uditi, for a “a dining adventure as they blend their Italian roots with LA’s eclectic vibe to whip up a feast that is daring, delightful and delicious.
