OPA Happy Hour THIS Thursday: Our first community happy hour of the year is THIS Thursday from 4:30-6-30pm @ Lula’s back patio (2720 Main St.). Come enjoy FREE appetizers and GREAT company. See you there!  

SaMo’s Black History Month Kicks off Feb. 1 with the Theme “Black Media & the Arts”: More details here and here’s a snapshot of events: 

  • Thursday, Feb. 1: Food trucks & dancing (City Hall, 12 – 2 p.m.)
  • Wednesday, Feb. 7: Food trucks & dancing (City Yards, 12 – 2 p.m.)
  • Thursday, Feb. 15: Food trucks & music (Big Blue Bus, 12 – 2 p.m.)
  • Thursday, Feb. 22: Octavia Butler’s “Parable of the Sower” (12:30 – 1:30 p.m.), sponsored by the Santa Monica Public Library 
  • Saturday, Feb. 24: Santa Monica Greens Festival (Virginia Avenue Park, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.)  
  • Saturday, Feb. 24: Solidarity & Celebration (Third Street Promenade, 1 – 8 p.m.)

SMC Extends Record Transfer Streak as the No.1 Transfer College to UC’s: For the 33rd year in a row (a streak that began the year the Cold War ended) leads the nation in UC transfers. Last year 1,086 SMC students transferred to UC campuses, with 414 headed to UCLA. More details here
