Woodlawn Cemetery in Santa Monica held its third annual Living History Tour on Saturday as 14 actors stood by the graves of noted people buried there to deliver monologues highlighting their lives.

The community was invited to talk a walking tour around the cemetery to visit each featured grave. Actors portrayed notables that included astronaut Sally Ride, the first American woman to travel into space, and Irene Ryan, the actress who played Granny on TV’s “The Beverly Hillbillies.”
Saturday’s event also included the official dedication of the city-owned cemetery’s eco-friendly burial site, Eternal Meadow.
Saul Rubin is a professional journalist, travel author and media professor who has worked in Sana Monica for a quarter of a century. Saul was a reporter for the Santa Monica Outlook before helping to found the Santa Monica Lookout. He is currently the senior journalism professor at Santa Monica College where he teaches introductory news writing and multimedia story production. He is also the advisor to the student media operation, The Corsair.
