Carter Rubin named to Santa Monica Housing Commission

Last night the City Council named Santa Monica Next Advisory Board Member Carter Rubin to the City’s Housing Commission. The Housing Commission advises the City Council and Housing Authority on issues related to the production of housing at all affordability levels within the city.

Carter is a 2013 alumnus of the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs with a Masters’ of Urban and Regional Planning.  The school was among the first to announce his appointment on their twitter page.

Carter writes, “During my service, I seek to help the City preserve and expand affordable housing options in Santa Monica, while helping relieve the economic pressures that drive up housing prices throughout Santa Monica. I want to ensure that all generations of Santa Monicans can grow and thrive here, especially young families, and to maintain housing opportunity and stability for the city’s most vulnerable residents.”

Carter lives in Santa Monica with his fiancee, and hopes to start a family here.
