Support Santa Monica Next Now to Make Us Strong in 2018

Date:

For more than four years, Santa Monica Next has been a loud and clear voice for safe streets, progressive urban design, and a balanced approach to increasing our city’s housing stock. Twice a year, we reach out to you, our readers, to ask your support in keeping this news website strong and vibrant. If you support Santa Monica Next, we need your help. Please consider making a tax deductible donation today.

In recent years, it has become increasingly obvious that a free, open, and independent press is one of the safeguards of our democracy. Santa Monica Next has always striven to give our readers the tools to be involved at all levels of local government. From encouraging volunteers to be on commissions or neighborhood groups, to testifying at City Council meetings, to just making an informed vote at election time, Santa Monica Next prides itself on making government and accessible to its citizens.

We can do this because of the dedication of our lead editor and award-winning journalist, Jason Islas. Over the last several years, Islas has been honored from a diverse set of groups for excellence in journalism and advocacy. This year, he was named one Assembly District 50’s Democrats of the Year by the L.A. County Democratic Party. He has also been honored by the American Planning Association and the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce.

But, we also need your help. No single donor to Santa Monica Next donates more than $5,000, and Jason is a highly sought-after, full-time journalist. Our advertising budget only takes us so far, and we’re hoping to raise $10,000 by the end of the year. Every donation up to $5,000 will be matched by an anonymous donor, so make your tax deductible donation today!
