Pacific Park Names Tim Defuria Director of Government and Community Affairs

Date:

Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier has appointed Tim Defuria as its first Director of Government and Community Affairs, a newly created position aimed at strengthening the park’s relationships with public agencies and local stakeholders.

Defuria, a Santa Monica resident, will oversee government relations and community partnerships for the amusement park. The role is intended to expand Pacific Park’s engagement with city, county, and state officials while supporting broader collaboration with Pier businesses and community groups.

“Tim’s deep experience navigating complex policy environments and building trusted relationships across sectors makes him an outstanding addition to our leadership team,” said Pacific Park CEO Jeff Klocke in a statement.

According to the park, Defuria will work with executive leadership and department heads to advance policy initiatives, support public-private partnerships, and align Pacific Park’s operations with the city’s long-term economic and tourism goals. His work is expected to include coordination with other Pier stakeholders as Santa Monica continues efforts to boost tourism and economic activity.

Defuria most recently served as Manager of Last Mile Public Policy at Amazon, where he worked on legislative and regulatory strategy across multiple states and cities. He previously held roles as Vice President of Government Relations at Strategies 360 and Director of Government Partnerships at Bird, where he focused on permitting and local government engagement.

Earlier in his career, Defuria worked in the office of former Assemblymember Richard Bloom, handling community engagement and legislative outreach.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Arizona State University.

Pacific Park is the only admission-free amusement park on the Santa Monica Pier, featuring rides, games, and retail offerings.
