“Water is Life” Workshop Focuses on Santa Monica Watershed, This Wednesday

Date:

The Santa Monica Great Park Coalition is partnering with the Verdant Venice Group to host a community workshop focused on stormwater, watershed health, and climate resilience.

Titled “Water is Life,” the event will take place on Wednesday, February 25, from 5–7 p.m. at the Santa Monica Institute (SMI Room), 330 Olympic Drive, 2nd Floor.

Organizers say the hands-on workshop will explore how nature-based solutions — including rain gardens, bioswales, and tree planting — can help capture and clean stormwater, improve ocean health, and strengthen local climate resilience. The focus will be on the South Santa Monica watershed, with participants invited to share their own “water stories” and relationship to rain, runoff, and the ocean.

The event is supported by a grant from the Safe Clean Water Program and includes participation from community groups such as Heal the Bay and Santa Monica Community Gardens.

The workshop is accessible via Big Blue Bus, and parking is available on site. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP in advance.

And yes — according to the flyer — there will be tacos.
