Big Blue Bus Rapid to Pali Returns

Date:

The following is from the City Manager’s Weekly Newsletter.

With Palisades High School returning to its home campus in Pacific Palisades this week, Big Blue Bus has restored its Route 9 Palisades High Express trips, providing direct, reliable service between Downtown Santa Monica and the Pali campus.

The restored express service departs twice each morning from 4th Street and Colorado Avenue (at 7:42 a.m. and 7:53 a.m.) and travels along Pacific Coast Highway, offering students a smooth and time-efficient ride directly to campus.

In the afternoon, two return trips operate back to Santa Monica. Based on strong ridership and direct student feedback during the first week, Big Blue Bus staff moved quickly to add a third afternoon return trip to ease crowding and improve the rider experience.

To mark Palisades High School’s return to campus and the resumption of this express service, City staff also shared a special social media video celebrating students, families, and the Big Blue Bus team.

In addition to the express trips, regular Route 9 service continues to operate as follows: Every 30 minutes on weekdays and every 40 minutes on weekends Serving Palisades Village from Downtown Santa Monica via 4th Street, Entrada Drive, Chautauqua Boulevard, and Sunset Boulevard

Looking ahead, Route 9 is planned to be extended to a new transit center at the future Gladstone’s redevelopment, creating a convenient connection to the beach and to Metro Route 134, which provides service to Malibu.
