SMC Symphony Orchestra Performs Dec. 14

Date:

The following is a submission from SMC.

The Santa Monica College (SMC) Music Department will present an unforgettable afternoon of orchestral music with the Santa Monica College Symphony Orchestra, led by Conductor Mercedes Juan Musotto. The program features Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia by Aram Khachaturian, Carmen Suite No. 1 by Georges Bizet, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5.

“These works showcase some of the most passionate and dramatic music in the orchestral repertoire,” said Musotto. “Khachaturian’s Adagio is sweeping and romantic, Bizet’s Carmen is vivid and full of character, and Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony takes the audience on a profound emotional journey.”

The concert will be held on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 4 p.m. in The Eli & Edythe Broad Stage at the SMC Performing Arts Center, 1310 11th Street (at Santa Monica Boulevard), Santa Monica.

Tickets are $15 general admission (plus a modest service charge); free for students with any student I.D. and free for children. Advance tickets can be purchased online at smc.edu/ticketsor by calling 310-434-3005 (Monday-Friday; limited hours). Tickets may also be purchased — starting 45 minutes before the performance begins — at The Broad Stage Box Office at the SMC Performing Arts Center. Free parking on premises. Seating is strictly on a first-arrival basis.

The concert is made possible by the generous support of the Colburn Foundation. More information is available by calling 310-434-4323. All performances subject to change or cancellation without notice.
