Pacific Park’s Ferris Wheel Dazzles With 90-Foot-Tall Snowman And Holiday Light Spectacular

Date:

The following is a submission from the Pier Corporation.

Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier is lighting up the season with a dazzling holiday show on its world-famous Pacific Wheel. The 90-foot-tall Ferris wheel will sparkle with brilliant patterns and animations, including a super-sized snowman waving cheerfully over the Pacific Ocean, blinking-nosed reindeer, shimmering snowflakes, festive emojis, and more—all created with 174,000 energy-efficient LED lights.

Adding to the holiday cheer, Pacific Park’s 55-foot-tall, multi-colored Christmas tree shines brightly from the Santa Monica Pier, rising to the highest point on the south-facing side of the Route 66-themed West Coaster roller coaster. It’s a joyful celebration of lights and holiday spirit on the Southern California coast.

Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier is also presenting “Holiday Cheer on the Pier,” a family-friendly celebration packed with music, art, storytelling, live entertainment, and holiday photo ops. The Pier’s historic Merry Go-Round building and surrounding spaces will be transformed into a coastal holiday village full of lights, laughter, and seaside spirit for two magical Thursdays—December 11 and 18.

Guests that can’t make it in person to view the visual holiday treats, can stream the Ferris wheel lights program online with Pacific Park’s live cams at www.pacpark.com/live.

The Pacific Wheel is the world’s only solar-powered Ferris wheel featuring 174,000 LED lights that are mounted on the Ferris wheel’s 40 spokes and two hubs. The Ferris wheel’s lighting system features 16.7 million color value combinations to display dynamic, custom, computer-generated lighting entertainment. The eco-friendly, enhanced LED lighting provides 81 percent greater energy savings than most Ferris wheel’s traditional incandescent bulbs.

The Ferris wheel soars nine stories high and lifts riders more than 130 feet above the Pacific Ocean to offer extraordinary views of the Southern California coastline from its location on the internationally popular Santa Monica Pier.
