Santa Monica College Continues 2025 Fall Jazz Series with Justo Almario Oct. 17

The Santa Monica College Music Department continues the 2025 Fall Jazz Series with renowned saxophonist, flutist, and clarinetist Justo Almario performing on Friday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Music Hall at the SMC Performing Arts Center, 1310 11th Street (at Santa Monica Boulevard), Santa Monica.

Admission is free with any student ID. General admission tickets are $10 (plus a modest service charge). Advance tickets may be purchased at smc.edu/ticketsor by calling 310-434-3005 (Monday-Friday; limited hours). Tickets may also be purchased — starting 1 hour before the performance start time — at The Broad Stage Box Office at the SMC Performing Arts Center. Free parking on premises. Seating is strictly on a first-arrival basis.

Almario fuses jazz, Latin, and soul with masterful artistry. A Berklee College of Music graduate, he was discovered by Mongo Santamaría, joining his band for a landmark 1971 Jazz Workshop engagement. After touring as Santamaría’s musical director, Almario moved to Los Angeles to record and tour with Roy Ayers’s Ubiquity, launching a prolific career spanning collaborations with Chaka Khan, Freddie Hubbard, Jennifer Lopez, and Luis Miguel, and film scores that include Dirty Dancing, Happy Feet, Rio, and Sideways.

The Fall Jazz Series will conclude with the Peter Erskine Quartet on Nov. 21. Details available at smc.edu/eventsor by calling 310-434-4323.
