Voters Can Also Drop off Mail-in Ballots at 10 Metro Stations
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will make it easier for Angelenos to get to the polls on Election Day by offering free rides across its entire system on Tuesday, November 4.
From 4 a.m. on Election Day until 3 a.m. the following morning, Metro buses, trains, Metro Bike Share, and Metro Micro rides will all be free. The agency says the move is intended to help remove transportation barriers for voters and encourage participation in the upcoming election.
“By offering free rides on Election Day, Metro is doing its part to make voting more accessible and affordable for everyone,” the agency said in its announcement.
Free Metro Bike Share Rides
Metro’s Bike Share program will also be free to use on Election Day. Riders can select a 1-Ride at any kiosk, online, or through the Metro Bike Share app, then enter promo code 110425 to redeem a 30-minute free ride. The code can be used multiple times throughout the day, and there will be no added fees for electric bikes. After the first 30 minutes, additional ride time will cost $1.75 per half hour.
Metro has also launched an interactive map to help users find nearby polling places and ballot drop boxes, available at bikeshare.metro.net. Riders are encouraged to share photos of their “Pedal to the Polls” trips on social media using the hashtag #pedaltothepolls and tagging @bikemetro.
Free Metro Micro Rides
Metro’s on-demand service, Metro Micro, will offer free rides throughout Election Day in its eight service zones across Los Angeles County. Riders can use the code Vote25 when booking through the app, website, or by calling 323-GO-METRO (option 5).
