Eyes in the Park: Chess Minded Individual Hosts Meetup Opening Day for New Tables

Date:

“The city shut down the old chess park three years ago and it was a real battle to get these boards relocated, but it finally worked out,” writes Reddit user Cody O’Connel, as he announces “Opening Day” for the new chessboards in Palisades Park on Ocean Avenue, at noon this Saturday, July 12.

Honestly, there’s not a lot more for me to add other than it’s always exciting to see people organizing fun events in Santa Monica’s parks on their own…and double-exciting when it’s to celebrate new infrastructure.
