Pacific Park’s Ferris Wheel Celebrates 2025 With ‘Happy New Year’ In 16 Languages

Date:

Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier’s Ferris wheel will ring in the New Year with a dazzling display of “Happy New Year” in 16 different languages, including Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, German, French, and Japanese. The animated messages will light up the night sky on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, starting at sunset.

While the Santa Monica Pier boardwalk will be closed overnight, visitors can view the stunning Ferris wheel light show in person from Santa Monica State Beach south of the Pier, Palisades Park to the north, or one of Santa Monica’s beachfront hotels. For those celebrating at home, the live cam at www.pacpark.com/live offers a front-row seat to the Pacific Wheel’s dazzling New Year’s greetings.

Please note: Although Santa Monica will host a variety of exciting New Year’s celebrations; there are no fireworks displays at the Pier or Santa Monica State Beach. The Pier will close at 10 p.m. on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, while the amusement park and other pier businesses will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Pacific Wheel’s 174,000 LED energy-efficient lights are mounted on the Ferris wheel’s structure including the 40 spokes and two hubs. The world’s only solar-powered Ferris wheel’s lighting system features 16.7 million color value combinations displaying dynamic, custom, computer-generated lighting entertainment.
