Holiday Ferris Wheel Will Light Up This Week As Pier Celebrates the Holidays All Month

Date:

The following is a submission from Pier Communications.

Pacific Park and the Santa Monica Pier are bringing holiday magic to life with “Cheer On The Pier,” a festive series of events and programs running through December 31. The celebration kicked off with Locals’ Night on November 21 and continues every Thursday—December 5, 12, and 19—featuring holiday-themed fun, winter wonders, a grand prize raffle on December 19, and the much-anticipated arrival of “Surfing Santa.”

Pacific Park is also spreading holiday cheer with a month-long special: $25 wristbands available starting December 6. Guests can purchase these wristbands either in person at the ticket booth or online at www.pacpark.com.

Adding to the holiday magic, Pacific Park’s iconic 40-foot-tall, multi-colored Christmas tree now stands proudly on the north-facing side of the West Coaster roller coaster, soaring 50 feet above the beach. The Park’s Ferris wheel enchants visitors nightly with festive light displays, featuring a cheerful 90-foot-tall waving snowman, reindeer with blinking red noses, animated snowflakes, holiday emojis, and more—all glowing brilliantly over the Pacific Ocean.

Pacific Park is open daily so once guests finish their holiday shopping they can take a break and relax at the Park. Enjoy a few rides, play a few games and treat the family and out of town visitors to the best beach and ocean views in Southern California on the solar-powered Ferris wheel. For those unable to visit in person, the Ferris wheel’s holiday lights can be enjoyed via Pacific Park’s live webcams at www.pacpark.com/live.

“This is a family-favorite holiday tradition that brings the magic of the season to the iconic Santa Monica Pier,” says Nathan Smithson, Director of Marketing & Business Development at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier. “With a lighted Christmas tree, the Ferris wheel’s state-of-the-art holiday light show and Southern California’s unique holiday vibe, we’re excited to offer guests a festive and memorable experience.”

Pacific Park’s holiday decorations and eco-friendly Ferris wheel make for a truly unique coastal celebration. As the world’s only solar-powered Ferris wheel, the Pacific Wheel boasts 174,000 LED lights illuminating its 40 spokes and two hubs. This state-of-the-art lighting system offers 16.7 million color combinations, creating dynamic, custom, computer-generated displays. The eco-friendly LEDs also deliver an impressive 81 percent energy savings compared to traditional incandescent bulbs, making the Pacific Wheel both a visual and environmental marvel during the holidays and all year long.

The Ferris wheel soars nine stories high and lifts riders more than 130 feet above the Pacific Ocean to offer extraordinary views of the Southern California coastline from its location on the internationally popular Santa Monica Pier.

Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, LA’s only admission free amusement park, offers 12 amusement rides, 14 midway games, Snackville with five fun food offerings and seaside retail shopping. In addition to the Pacific Wheel solar-powered Ferris wheel, Pacific Park’s signature rides include The West Coaster, a steel roller coaster that races 55 feet above the Santa Monica Bay. Prices and operating hours are subject to change; park hours on December 5 and 12 are from 12-5 p.m., followed daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information and to confirm operating hours, please call 310-260-8744, visit pacpark.com, and go to Facebook.com/pacificpark, Instagram.com/pacpark or X.com/pacpark.
