If you’re not part of a political group or involved with your neighborhood association (or even if you are in your neighborhood association but happen to live in Ocean Park), you probably have not had a chance to directly ask a question of the candidates running for City Council.
Well, here’s your chance.
The moderators of the subreddit r/SantaMonica are hosting their own “candidate’s forum.” The moderators will collect questions and create a list of the “top 5” questions that are submitted. Anyone can submit a question at this thread on the subreddit.
From here, candidates have until the end of the work-week to verify their accounts with the moderators of the subreddit. Early next week, a new thread will be posted with the questions where candidates, with their verified accounts, can answer the questions and engage with the other posters of the group.
While any thread on the election is going to get political, the moderators have asked that everyone be civil and keep it clean. “City Council is an underpaid, part-time job, so keep it civil. We’ll lock comments on 10/29 but keep the post up for voters to reference later.“
