Error on Mail-In Ballot for SMMUSD Bond Measures

Date:

The Los Angeles County Clerk has made an error on the ballots mailed to voters in Santa Monica and Malibu. The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District placed a pair of bond measures on the ballot, one for residents in Santa Monica and another for residents in Malibu. However, due to an error both measures are appearing on the mail-in ballots sent out to residents in both cities.

Santa Monica residents are to vote on Measure QS and Malibu residents are to vote on Measure MM. There will be no penalty if a voter votes on both measures but the vote will only count for the ballot measure for which the voter is expected to vote given where they live.

At the time of printing, the County Clerk has not announced how they plan to correct this error. When they make an official announcement, we will update this story.

For more on Measure QS (and Measure MM), read our endorsement of the ballot measures here.
