Santa Monica City Attorney’s Office Provides Update on Senate Bill 9: This SaMo.gov post detailing that the ruling has no impact on Santa Monica because “As a ruling of the Los Angeles Superior Court, the court’s ruling is not binding on any other party except those involved in the litigation, nor does it not prevent Santa Monica from legislating its own municipal affairs and continuing to implement Santa Monica Municipal Code section 9.31.125, Santa Monica’s SB 9 implementing ordinance. Further, the ruling does not prevent the City from following City Council’s direction to allow for additional units on parcels 10,000 square feet or greater to provide more housing opportunities in the R-1 single family zones.”

New E-Bike Voucher Program: The City of Santa Monica has launched an E-Bike Voucher Program for income-qualified Santa Monica residents. In the next few months, the program will provide approximately 90 qualified residents with a voucher worth up to $2,000 to purchase an electric bike and safety accessories like a helmet, lights or bike lock. Applications are currently open and will remain open until all funds are exhausted. The Income Qualified E-Bike Voucher Program aims to increase access to sustainable transportation options for historically underserved communities and promote equity in achieving our climate goals. The use of vouchers in lieu of a rebate eliminates upfront costs to low- and moderate-income residents, which typically excludes them from taking advantage of rebate programs. Increasing biking will play an important role in Santa Monica’s mission to meet climate goals, improve public health and build community resiliency. More details here

Manchego on Main St. Listed Among “The Best Bottomless Brunches in LA”: This Timout write-up says “With an expanded patio parklet along Main Street, this casual Spanish tapas restaurant in Santa Monica is the ideal spot for some low-profile day drinking. The $25 bottomless mimosas and sangria pair well with the small brunch menu, which includes a chorizo omelette, torrijas (Spanish French toast) and sandwiches made with serrano jam, imported cheeses and other delicious ingredients from the Iberian peninsula.” https://www.timeout.com/los-angeles/restaurants/best-bottomless-brunch-options-in-los-angeles

Graduating SaMoHi Seniors Will Miss Main St.: In this Damien Newton “Who’s Next” podcast, he interviewed a few graduating SaMoHi seniors and in a segment about what they’ll miss most about SaMo when they’re in college one of the kids brought up Main St. and how great it is: “I also grew up around Main Street and I feel like that’s just such a fun community as well.
