OPA Update: OPA Happy Hour POSTPONED, Structural Fire on Main St., SaMo Black History Month Kick Off, & Things To Do This Weekend

OPA Happy Hour POSTPONED: Mother nature did not cooperate and so we are postponing our (OPA’s) first community happy hour of the year for three weeks to February 22. We expect it will still be from 4:30-6-30pm @ Lula’s back patio (2720 Main St.) but will update you as it gets closer. 

Santa Monica’s Black History Month 2024 kicks off Feb. 1: This year’s theme is “Black Media & the Arts” and there are events throughout the month, including kick-off YMCA event on Feb. 1 (more details below), Food trucks & dancing on Feb. 7 @ City Yards, Food trucks & music on Feb. 15 @ Big Blue Bus Depo, & Santa Monica Greens Festival on Feb. 24 @ Virginia Avenue Park. More details here.

Things To Do This Weekend: 

  • Black History Month Event @ YMCA (Thursday): SaMo Black Lives Association is teaming with the SaMo YMCA to celebrate and kick-off the month. More details here.
  • Abbot Kinney First Friday Food Truck Fest (Friday starting at 5pm): About two dozen food trucks are expected to line the street for the monthly event. https://www.abbotkinneyblvd.com/
  • Recycling Event (Saturday 9am – 2pm): The City is hosting a FREE recycling event Saturday, February 3rd, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Santa Monica residents only. Bring your used mattresses, box springs, electronic waste, and up to five boxes of paper for shredding! Shredding will happen on-site and the paper will be recycled.
