Re-introducing Eyes on the Street : New Stripes on Ocean Ave.

Date:

“Eyes on the Street” is a series of short stories based on images captured by you, our readers, and our staff and board of advisors. Since our re-launch last February, we haven’t rebooted this series, but if you see something interesting happening (construction, something new or unexpected, a great clip of a fun event), send it with a short explanation to damien@santamonicanext.org and let us know if you want credit or want it to be anonymously submitted.

This week’s submission comes from, well, me. Earlier this morning after my Friday morning run, I saw that construction crews were adding the finishing touches to the re-configuration of Ocean Avenue. On a call this afternoon, staff confirmed that the new concrete protected bike lanes should be officially opened soon.

We’ll be publishing a much larger article on Ocean Avenue next week, but for now rest assured that progress continues on a bike friendly corridor that has already seen an explosion of new bike activity since the old, bollard protected, bike lanes opened in 2022.
