Via Email, Santa Monica Pier Executive Describes Changes to Twilight Concert Series

Date:

The Santa Monica Pier Corporation regularly sends out emails with news about the pier led by a personal letter by executive director Negin Singh. Yesterday’s email included an interesting tidbit about changes to the pier concert series.

“Over the last few months, our team has been working hard with the City Manager’s office, PD, FD, The City Attorney, our Pier Tenants, and more to reimagine our beloved Twilight Concert Series and give it new life for 2018 and beyond. Starting on September 5, our concerts will be held on five consecutive Wednesday nights, and will end on Sunday, October 7, with a super fun collaboration with COAST.”

The email goes on to hope to describe the festival atmosphere Singh hopes the series will bring and various ways that businesses at the pier will be involved. As one of the earliest supporters of Open Streets events in my time as editor at Streetsblog L.A., I am personally very interested in seeing how the city and Pier Corporation will manage and merge two large events: the finale of the Twilight Concert Series and Coast.

A full copy of Singh’s message, “Notes from Negin’s Desk” can be found below. Feel free to leave your comments or ideas in the comments section. I can personally attest that several members of the Pier Commission are regular readers of Santa Monica Next.
