Join Santa Monica Next for an evening of food, drinks, and fun at our last event of the year this Friday, save money and time with Buy Local sidewalk sales this weekend, help donate to a good cause while having some family fun on Sunday at Meet Me Under the Fig, and get ready for the 2015 Santa Monica Pub Crawl to benefit the Westside Food Bank next Saturday, Dec 12.

STREETFILMS AT VIDIOTS WITH SANTA MONICA NEXT

We’ll be rounding out 2015 with food, drinks, and a special screening of Streetfilms at the Annex at Vidiots on Friday, December 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. Join us to see what other communities are doing to make themselves better places to live, work, and play and let’s get inspired to make positive change in Santa Monica. This event is sponsored Pocrass & De Los Reyes Bicycle Law.

If you’re not familiar with Streetfilms, here’s one of their short films from 2008 about various bike co-ops in L.A., including Bikerowave, which was located in Santa Monica at the time. Here’s more info about the event.

When: Friday, December 4 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Where: Vidiots, 302 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica

Buy Local Holiday Sidewalk Sales

Buy local and save this weekend with several sidewalk sales in town. Keeping your shopping nearby means less driving and stress. It also means supporting local businesses, schools, and city services. So, instead of driving to a distant outlet mall, hop on a bike, a bus, or take a walk to your neighborhood commercial district when shopping for gifts this year.

The Buy Local for Holidays Sidewalk Sale on Main Street, Montana Avenue and Pico Boulevard is taking place the weekend of December 4 to 6 and “includes free family festivities and exciting events for Santa Monica locals and visitors alike to enjoy the holiday season in each of Santa Monica’s neighborhood commercial districts,” according to a press release put out by Buy Local Santa Monica.

Meet Me Under the Fig 2015

It’s time for the annual Meet Me Under the Fig Tree event at the Fairmont Miramar this Sunday, December 6 from 2 to 5 p.m.

“It’s an afternoon for the entire family! There will be entertainment, pictures with Santa Claus, whimsical gingerbread houses, seasonal crafts and a complimentary raffle. For the kids, there will be a bounce house and fantastic new activities like a petting zoo, mural painting and more,” according to the event’s Facebook page.

Guests are asked to RSVP and to bring a nonperishable food item to be donated to OPCC, a local nonprofit that assists people experiencing homelessness.

When: Sunday, Dec 6 from 2 to 5 p.m.
Where: The Fairmont Miramar, 101 Wilshire Blvd.

Pub Crawl for A Good Cause

Save the date! On December 12, the annual Santa Monica Pub Crawl, to benefit the Westside Food Bank, is back.

“Sign up online, choose your favorite SANTA route and pay a $12 donation/entrance fee. A very generous portion of all proceeds benefit the Westside Food Bank to feed those in need for the holidays. Last year’s event raised over $20,000…enough for 100,000 meals!” according to the event’s Facebook page.

“Santa/Holiday attire is highly encouraged, either individually or in teams, so we can take over the Santa Monica streets in colorful fashion. Dress in your Merry Best!” the event says.

Participants are encouraged to use the Big Blue Bus, which is offering $4 day passes for those participating in the event.
