Santa Monica to Host “Community Conversation” on Homelessness, Public Safety

Date:

Santa Monica City officials want to hear from the community at an upcoming meeting addressing public safety, the growing homelessness crisis, and community policing.

On Monday, December 11 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., public safety and other city officials, including City Manager Rick Cole will meet with community members in Roosevelt Elementary School’s auditorium (801 Montana Avenue).

While the event is free and open to the public, officials request attendees RSVP here due to limited space.

“Leaders will facilitate a conversation to listen to community input, share what the City is already doing, and to inform what more we can do. We look forward to a thoughtful discussion on how we can together tackle these pressing issues impacting Santa Monica,” according to officials.

Also to be discussed will be what the community hopes to “see in the next Chief of Police.” Santa Monica’s previous chief, Jacqueline Seabrooks, retired earlier this year and Interim Chief Kenneth Semko is currently at the helm.
