Sunday, August 23 | 8:30 a.m. through the evening
Main Street, Santa Monica
Main Street is taking the celebration into the street this Sunday as the Main Street Farmers Market, Ocean Park Association and Main Street Business Improvement Association team up for a full day of food, music, games and community activities.
The day begins with the Farmers Market from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., along with a Kids Play Zone on Heritage Lawn, chalk art by the Sunnyside Chalkers in the Victorian driveway and live music from Alex Chaiet and the GM Jazz Quartet. The Main Street Entertainment Zone will also be activated, with cocktails and mocktails available on the street.
In the afternoon and evening, the Ocean Park Association and Main Street Business Improvement Association will take over, with street seating, more activities in the Entertainment Zone and DJs providing music into the evening.
The event is also part of a larger effort to explore moving the Farmers Market into the street on a regular basis. Organizers say more information about a potential weekly on-street market is coming in the future.
