| Shabbat on the Beach (Friday 5:30 – 7 pm): Warm your toes in the sand and join your Mishkon community for a magical Shabbat on the Beach, filled with singing, spirit, and the joy of celebrating Shabbat together. Feel free to bring your own instrument and join Rabbi Joshua Katzan in making music. Don’t forget your beach chairs, blankets, and jackets. If you’d like to stay after the service, bring your own picnic dinner and enjoy a relaxing evening on the beach with friends and family. | Santa Monica Increases Visible Police Patrols at the Pier, Beach, Palisades Park and Downtown: This city post details how “The added patrols will provide residents, businesses and visitors with a visible, consistent public safety presence at key locations across the city.” “Our responsibility is to protect everyone who lives in, works in, and visits Santa Monica,” said Police Chief Darrick Jacob. “That means being present, visible, and accessible. Our officers are on the Pier, in our parks, along the beach, throughout downtown, and in our residential neighborhoods, day and night. That presence builds trust, supports safety, and allows us to respond when our community needs us.” |
| CLARE|MATRIX moves forward with $50M expansion plan in Santa Monica: The CLARE|MATRIX Pico Campus, located at 901 W. Pico Boulevard, has been in operation since the 1970s. Plans call for demolishing three existing buildings to clear the way for a new four-story, approximately 26,000-square-foot structure with a single level of subterranean parking for 17 vehicles. A handful of crisp shallots and a thick ring of sautéed red onion are the only vegetables in sight.” |
| Palisades Village reopens with new restaurants from Nancy Silverton and Timothy Hollingsworth: The Caruso-owned Palisades Village reopened on Saturday after more than $100 million in repairs. Celebrity chef Timothy Hollingsworth opened Alphabet Bar & Grill in the former Hank’s space. Designed as the Village’s neighborhood restaurant, it serves American classics, such as rotisserie chickens with a range of sauces and just-charred burgers under cheddar and buttery onions. Caruso had hoped to work with Nancy Silverton for years. But it was the mission of aiding the Palisades that finally spurred the Mozza, Chi Spacca and La Brea Bakery founder to conceptualize Spacca Tutto, an Italian-leaning steakhouse set to debut in Palisades Village next month.
