City Opens New Resident Survey About Parks and Open Space

Date:

The City of Santa Monica launched a survey to gauge residents’ opinions concerning arts, parks, and recreation priorities for the city.

Do you enjoy events such as bike month programming? Do you think the city needs more arts programming? How often do you go to one of the city’s parks? Here’s your chance to let the city know as it makes plans for what activities to keep, which ones to expand, and which ones might not be as needed.

“Each question is important. The time you invest in completing this survey will aid the City in taking a resident-driven approach to recreation planning to enhance our community and improve the quality of life for all residents,” the city explains in its announcement of the survey.

The survey took me about 15 minutes to complete*** and is mostly multiple choice questions. After asking a series of multiple choice questions about a topic to determine how much the respondent uses certain facilities or attends certain types of programming, residents are offered a chance to answer short questions to provide clarification.

This survey is separate from the planning process for the conversion of the Santa Monica Airport to open space in 2029 and there are no questions about the airport conversion.

*** – As I am not a resident and the survey is clearly for residents, I completed the survey to gauge how long it would take but did not submit my answers to the city.
