Date:

As the members of SEIU 99 vote on a tentative deal and a new contract between school workers and the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, SMMUSD and one of SEIU’s negotiators released statements on the deal.

“We are pleased that through our interest-based bargaining process that this agreement has been reached,” writes Gail Pinsker, a spokesperson for the school district. “We value our classified staff and appreciate their hard word and dedication to our mission and goals.”

“We extend our gratitude to our bargaining team, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Mark Kelly and the district’s team for their tireless efforts and dedication in reaching this agreement for our members,” writes Chris Mock, SEIU L99 Chief Steward for SMMUSD.

“Most importantly, we want to thank our SEIU Local 99 members for their unwavering support, patience and presence in board meetings and various sites. Together, we stand united, strong and as one.”
