Big Blue Bus (BBB) will join transit agencies across California in offering free rides on Wednesday, October 7, as part of California Clean Air Day. The annual event, organized by the Coalition for Clean Air, encourages Californians to take actions that reduce air pollution and protect public health. For BBB riders, that can mean leaving the car at home and taking advantage of the agency’s zero-emission buses instead.
In addition to free rides, the Big Blue Bus is hosting a party at City Hall as part of their “Try-A-Commute” program to encourage people to switch out of their car for one commute. The event will be at City Hall from 11-1 on Clean Air Day.
California Clean Air Day is organized by the Coalition for Clean Air, asks participants to make a pledge ranging from taking transit, walking or biking instead of driving to reducing household emissions, planting a garden or advocating for cleaner air policies. Last year, more than 5,300 Californians made more than 22,000 clean-air pledges, and the campaign says more than 73,000 pledges have been made since Clean Air Day began in 2018.
