Happy Bike to Anywhere Day, to Those Who Celebrate

Between this morning’s Bike to Anywhere Day festivities and the Rick Crocker 5K in just a couple of hours, I didn’t have a lot of time to explore Bike to Anywhere Day, but I did manage to hit three stops on a speed route: Santa Monica College on Pearl (pictured above, not all Bike Day Pit Stops have to be big), the City Hall stop, and Boston Properties on Broadway.

There’s a lot of things I like about biking in Santa Monica, and the city does better than most when it comes to events such as Bike to Work/School/Anywhere Day…but I have to give an extra shout out to a city that has the library at it’s bike events. And for good reason. The Santa Monica Public Library lends out bike repair tools as though they were books.

Here’s a few pictures from today. If you’d like to share more, send me a note at damien@santamonicanext.org. And of course, the day’s fun isn’t over yet. You can join Santa Monica Spoke and other riders at tonight’s “Handlebar Happy Hour.”
