City Releases 1st Quarter Crime Statistics: Among the details in this SaMo report are that serious crimes increased by 14% and part II offenses (simple assault, DUIs, fraud, vandalism, narcotics, etc.) increased by 19%.

City Council Beefs Up Security at Pier & Downtown Parks: Council approved a five-year contract with Downtown Santa Monica, Inc. (DTSM) to provide Park Ambassador services at Palisades, Reed and Tongva Parks & extended a contract with CA Panther for security services on the Pier from July 1 through December 31. SaMo Is Third Least Affordable City for Home Buyers: This Surf Santa Monica article cites a WalletHub study of 300 cities.

Here’s A Breakdown Of Santa Monica’s Proposed Biennial Budget Budget: This SaMoMirror post shows the breakdown of where the $750 million budget comes from (spoiler alert: 72.5% is local taxes) and breaks down what it gets spent on (with Public Safety (Fire and Police) getting 38%). Council expected to adopt it on June 27.
