Reminder: Santa Monica Airport Conversion Plan Revealed at Community Event Saturday

Santa Monica residents can get a first look at the proposed master plan for the future Great Park at a community event Saturday, October 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Memorial Park Gym.

The event will showcase the Draft Illustrative Master Plan for the conversion of Santa Monica Airport into a public park, including proposed walking, running and biking paths, active recreation facilities, nature areas and plans for different park districts.

Attendees can explore the plan, provide detailed feedback in person and speak with members of the Santa Monica Airport Conversion (SMAC) Project team and city staff. The drop-in event is the only Phase 4 community meeting where residents can interact directly with the plan and share feedback in real time.

The city also plans to launch a new online survey as part of Phase 4 community engagement. Feedback from the event and survey will help refine the plan before it goes to City Council early next year. Another round of presentations to city boards and commissions is scheduled for November.

When: Saturday, October 17, 1-4 p.m.

Where: Memorial Park Gym, Santa Monica
