Significant activity included arrests connected to a nearly $100,000 jewelry theft, organized retail theft, robbery, narcotics sales, burglary tools, stolen copper wire and outstanding warrants.” More details here. |
| Santa Monica Touts Affordable Housing Gains Amid Resident Backlash: During fiscal year 2024-25, the city completed 72 multifamily residences. Eighty-one percent were affordable to low- and moderate-income households, while 25% were affordable specifically to low-income residents. The results exceeded both of the city’s requirements. But the figures do not show who is ultimately benefiting from those units, or how the city’s housing and homeless-service policies are affecting neighborhoods where residents have raised concerns about those programs. Pico residents say the city’s housing numbers do not tell the whole story. They have raised concerns about drug activity, reports of violence, public spending and a lack of neighborhood input around homeless-service facilities. For them, the issue is whether Pico is carrying the impact of the city’s policies without receiving a fair share of the benefits. More details here. |
| Consignors of The Posh Duck on Main St. Say Owner of the Resale Store Ducked them with Abrupt Closure: Consignors of the luxury resale boutique on Main Street, say they were left confused and angry this month after the shop closed abruptly, sent contradictory emails about a possible bankruptcy, and left customers scrambling to reclaim designer handbags, clothing and jewelry before an August deadline. The Posh Duck, at 2711 Main St. sold authenticated pre-owned luxury items from brands including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Prada, operating both in-store and online through a consignor portal. The store had operated at the address since 2011, previously as a location of The Closet Trading Company, before rebranding as The Posh Duck in 2025. More details here. |
| Santa Monica Airport Park Plan Moves Into Next Phase After Thousands Weigh In: The planning process for transforming the former Santa Monica Airport into a major public park is moving into its next phase, as city officials and the project team prepare to turn a broad framework into a more detailed master plan. The project is now entering Phase 4: Illustrative Masterplan, which will refine the Framework Diagram developed during earlier phases into a Preferred Scenario Framework Plan showing in greater detail how the future park could be organized.
