Downtown Santa Monica Gets a Glow Up

Date:

The following is a submission from the City of Santa Monica

Crews were hard at work in downtown Santa Monica this week, giving the popular shopping and dining destination a glow up. Work includes pruning the historic Ficus trees along six city blocks, planting 37 new trees, and regularly power washing the city’s five downtown public parking structures.

The improvements are all part of the two-year Realignment Plan renewal effort approved by the Santa Monica City Council last month. The plan lays out $60 million in street improvements, safety investments and business support to re-establish the iconic coastal community as a safe, clean and vibrant place to live, work and play.
