This morning, Santa Monica got a new grocery store when Vons opened its newest branch at 710 Broadway. A line snaked around the block for people wanting to be part of the festivities including free groceries, free samples and gift cards for the first 250 shoppers.

The new 710 Broadway location features a full-service bakery, deli, meat and seafood counter, floral department, and in-store pharmacy. Shoppers will also find a Starbucks café with a first-of-its-kind walk-up window for faster orders.

In addition to in-store amenities, the supermarket will offer DriveUp & Go™ curbside pickup, home delivery, and a new “Walk-Up & Go” option for pedestrians, catering to Santa Monica’s urban, foot-friendly lifestyle.

“We’re thrilled to open Santa Monica’s largest full-service supermarket and to welcome neighbors into a store designed for how people live, eat and move in this community,” said Wayne Denningham, executive vice president and president of Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions.

Vons is owned and operated by Albertsons Companies, a leading food and drug retailer in the United States. The company operates stores across 34 states and the District of Columbia with more than 20 banners including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, Acme, Tom Thumb, Randalls, United Supermarkets, Pavilions, Star Market, Haggen, Carrs, Kings Food Markets and Balducci’s Food Lovers Market.
