Santa Monica College to Stage Julius Caesar Oct. 24-Nov. 2

The Santa Monica College (SMC) Theatre Arts Department will perform a bold, modern-dress staging of Julius Caesar Oct. 24-Nov. 2 in the Theatre Arts Studio Stage on the SMC Main Campus, 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica. Written by William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar is a reminder of the timeless themes of power, loyalty, and public unrest, which take on urgent resonance in today’s world. The production, set against a contemporary backdrop, invites the audience to engage with the play through a present-day lens, examining how ambition and fear shape the societies we live in today.

The SMC production is directed by Aric Martin.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24 and Oct. 31, and Saturday, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1. Matinees are at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26 and Nov. 2. All performances subject to change or cancellation without notice. All performances subject to change or cancellation without notice.

Advance (pre-sale) tickets, which range from $25 to $22 ($18 for SMC students and staff) plus a modest service charge, can be purchased online at smc.edu/ticketsat any time, or by calling 310-434-4165 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets purchased on performance weekends at the Events Box Office (at the Theatre Arts building) are $3 higher.
