First OPA Meeting of 2025 is Today (Monday, Jan 6): It’s a great time to check out the organization and help set our 2025 priorities. This month’s meeting will be at the 2601 Main St. Library with food and mingling at 6:00pm and the meeting starting at 6:30pm. Here’s the full schedule:

  • 6:00 – 6:30pm: Food, refreshments and mingling

  • 6:30 – 6:45pm: SMPD Update
  • 6:45 – 7:10pm: Newly elected City Council-Member Natalya Zernitskaya
  • 7:10 – 7:30: Future of the SaMo Airport Land Discussion
  • 7:30 – 8:30: Board business, including exec board election, 2025 priorities, 2024 financial recap, upcoming calendar of events, & more)

How To Recycle Your Christmas Tree: Between now and Jan. 31, Christmas trees can be placed at the curbside or alleyway next to recycling and waste containers on scheduled trash collection days. “Here’s everything you need to know about disposing of your Christmas tree in Santa Monica.”

  • Social Service Assistance (Tuesday 11:30am – 7pm @ Virginia Avenue Park): Trained community health workers will be available at the Park Center Building. They can assist with enrollment in CalFresh, the state of California’s food subsidy program to improve the nutrition of families, and also help with MediCal and Medicare. If you have questions about qualifying or if you need help completing enrollment forms, you can make an appointment at 310.458.8688. Drop-ins are also welcome.
