OPA June 10 Monthly Meeting: Our last meeting before the July 4 parade is next Monday, June 10. That meeting features Santa Monica Fire Department, Rev Janet and Kera Blades-Snell, and more! Hope to see you at the Main St. library for the 6:30pm meeting. Light dinner will be served.

Annenberg Community Beach House Summer 2024 Calendar: This SaMo.gov post details the calendar that is “Packed with Fun for All Ages,” with events like the annual Cardboard Yacht Regatta, Pride events and much more.

LA County Re-Launches Rent Relief Program with $68 Million in Grant Funding: More details here on the the program will provide up to $30,000 per rental unit to landlords for unpaid rent and eligible expenses dating from April 1, 2022 to the present. 

SMMUSD Looking for Middle School Athletic Coaches: “SMMUSD is looking to bring in a number of qualified and experienced coaches who are versed in the one or more of the following for the Santa Monica middle school sports program for the 2024-25 school year. Coaches will be impacting youth from the 6th-8th grade.” Click here to learn more.

Things To Do This Week: 

  • City of Hope Charity Pickleball Tournament (Monday 1pm): There is a social division for newbies and a competitive division for experienced players. Money raised supports breast cancer research. I will be there and hope you will too. More details here
  • Social Service Assistance provided by Providence St. John’s Community Health Program (Tuesday, 11:30am- 7pm): “The trained Providence St. John’s staff can assist with enrollment in CalFresh, the state of California’s food subsidy program created to improve the nutrition of families through access to healthy foods. Staff can also help navigate enrollment or questions for MediCal and Medicare.” More details here.
  • Tech & Tasks (Thursdays 2 – 4pm): Need a little help? This weekly program offers one-on-one assistance from SMPL tutors. Staff and volunteers can assist with reading, writing, and technology related tasks. Drop-in to get help with completing online forms and applications, resume writing, device help, improving reading skills, email, downloading eBooks, and much more. More details here.
