OPA Update 6/17/24: Manager of Jameson’s Pub Killed, Make Music Day This Friday, OPA Needs July 4 Parade Volunteers, & Things To Do This Week


Manager of Jameson’s Pub Killed; Suspect in Custody: This is an update to last’s week’s report of late night arrests after “Police said a fight broke out after the manager asked several people to leave the bar.” Homicide charges have been filed. Read more in this SMDP report or this NBC4 report. A GoFundMe has been created for Jay’s family as they mourn his loss. At the time of this writing, it has raised about $11,500 out of its $20,000 goal. Here is a link to the GoFundMe.

Make Music Day (Friday 2 – 6pm): Make Music LA is a global celebration of music observed in 800 cities across 110 countries on the summer solstice inspired by France’s Fête de la Musique.   • Meet the LA Rams Mascot and Cheerleaders at SMPL (Monday 10am-12pm): In celebration of Santa Monica Public Library’s Summer Reading Program: Santa Monica Reads All Summer, families are invited to meet cheerleaders and Rampage, the official mascot of the Los Angeles Rams at the Main Library.   • Pedals for Progress Bike-a-Thon (Wednesday 10am & 12pm): The inaugural Pedals for Progress Bike-a-Thon, hosted by the Santa Monica Black Empowerment Association (SMBEA) in celebration of Juneteenth will feature two special rides: 10 a.m. ride: Focused on promoting sustainability, clean air, and home electrification. 12 p.m. ride: Dedicated to mental health and wellness.
