This Thursday, Bike to Anywhere Day, the heir to Bike to Work Day, comes to Santa Monica. The annual international celebration of bicycling culture got a rebrand during the pandemic, but it still has many of the trappings of a traditional Bike Day, regardless of the branding.
This year’s Bike to Anywhere Day features a full day of activities and giveaways including the always popular “pit stops” during the morning commute hours, free transit rides on Metro and the Big Blue Bus, and a post-work Handlebar Happy Hour. Here’s a full list of Santa Monica’s Bike to Anywhere Day activities via Santa Monica Spoke. If more events “pop-up” we’ll let you know:

Metro will celebrate Bike Day on Thursday, May 16 by providing free rides on Metro Bus and Rail lines. Fareboxes on buses will be covered and rail system turnstile gates and validators will be programmed not to charge fare that day.
Big Blue Bus: Cyclist ride for free May 16th
Join BBB and all the local bicycle commuters to celebrate Bike Anywhere Day on Thursday, May 16. On that day, bring your bike, folding bike or helmet on board a Big Blue Bus and you can ride for FREE.
