BBB Increases Service to Samohi as Students Return to Campus

Date:

As part of the Better Blue Bus changes approved earlier this year, the Big Blue Bus is increasing access to the Santa Monica High School (Samohi) campus just as students return to school. In its monthly newsletter, the Santa Monica Department of Transportation celebrated the increased service on BBB Route 7, which runs along Pico Boulevard and stops adjacent to the Samohi entrance.

“Based on community feedback, Route 7 trip times have been adjusted to better align with Samohi’s bell schedule making your trip more convenient. Thanks to these improvements, students and guardians can now ride Big Blue Bus with even greater confidence,” the city boasted in its newsletter.

You can download the new schedule for Route 7 here.

Students can ride both the BBB and Metro bus and rail lines (including the E Line) for free.

Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) students are encouraged to contact their house office for more details. With a GoPass TAP card, students can ride participating transit systems through June 30, 2025

How Students Access Unlimited Transit Rides:

  1. Students can pick up a GoPass TAP card from their participating school.
  2. Register GoPass TAP card online and follow instructions to load a yearly pass.
  3. Activate card by holding the GoPass TAP card at any TAP validator on a bus or at a rail station.
  4. Students can load their card onto the TAP App on a compatible iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android phone, but doing so will deactivate your physical GoPass TAP card.
