A Month of Pride, Celebrated Across Santa Monica!

Date:

Every week we republish an article from the City Manager’s Newsletter. Here’s this weeks.

June is LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, and across Santa Monica, it’s taking shape as a full month of celebration, connection, and community. From storytelling and live theater to family mornings on the Pier and a night swim under the stars, SaMo Pride 2026 offers something for every age and every kind of celebrant, much of it free and open to all!

The month opens with heart. On Wednesday, June 3, Storyectomy Family Pride returns to The Crow for a third season, using storytelling and comedy to bring light, love, and healing to the LGBTQIA+ community.

The following Sunday, June 7, families with young children are invited to Fabulous Fables at the Santa Monica Pier, a free, joy-filled morning created especially for kids ten and under.

Mid-month brings the celebration into the heart of downtown. On Saturday, June 13, Pride takes over the Third Street Promenade for Pride on the Promenade, with a drag brunch, community booths, games, and a Santa Monica Public Library pop-up complete with Rainbow Storytime. The following day, the new 19th Street Community Farm and Wellness Garden opens with a free block party featuring music, garden activities, crafts, food trucks, and a Pride table to mark the occasion.

The month also makes room for reflection and the written word. On Thursday, June 18, the Ocean Park Branch Library hosts a Pride Month Young Adult Author Panel featuring writers whose books, often among the most challenged in libraries nationwide, proudly tell LGBTQIA+ stories. And throughout June, several evening performances at The Crow, including Gay Interrupted and Cabaret at The Crow, offer comedy and live theater for adult audiences.

SaMo Pride draws to a close with one of its most beloved gatherings. On Friday, June 26, the Annenberg Community Beach House hosts the Pride Sunset Swim, a welcoming evening in the historic heated pool with music, complimentary s’mores while supplies last, and hands-on crafts. Whether guests come to swim, make art, or simply relax by the water, the evening offers a queer, accessible, and judgment-free space for everyone.

These are just a few of the celebrations taking place throughout the month. For the full and most current lineup of SaMo Pride events, visit the City’s events calendar online here!
